Kalgoorlie and on to the Nullarbor
A catch up edition - we have been out of NextG range since last Friday.

We made a day trip from our Kambalda base into Kalgoorlie to look at the sights. The highlight was a trip to the Mining Museum where we had a tour of a super truck, saw some gold poured and went underground into one of the historical early goldmines. Kalgoorlie is a dynamic town full of historical buildings and sites, with a real focus on tourism. We had our first fast food for the trip (McDonalds, ugh!) before heading back to Kambalda.
Big monster and little monsters :-)

There's gold in them thar' tunnels

A rail car full of nuggets...
The next day (Thursday) the boys enjoyed riding their bikes after a couple of hours of school and we spent a relaxing day at the caravan park. On Friday we packed up after school work and headed for the Nullarbor. We stopped for lunch at Norseman, the town of my birth. It was disappointing that not one local came up to welcome me back, but considering that we left when I was 2 years old (in 1968!!) I will cut the Norsemanites some slack. Local legend has it that the town bears its name becuse a prospector's horse went lame in the area, and the stone lodged in the shoe turned out to contain gold. The horse's name: "Norseman".

We left Norseman for a 100km drive to Fraser Range Caravan Park, which could be our last power and water for a few days. It is set in a stunning panorama of hills surrounding the caravan park. We enjoyed a 4km family hike around the caravan park (across the top of the ranges), following a hand written map with quaint points of interest.

I am currently posting this while we stay at Eucla. We will be out of NextG range for about 3 days, until we reach Ceduna.

I'm looking forward to hearing the odd comments from Angela and the boys. Do they speak?
